Alfred Russel Wallace (1822-1913) was an excellent English naturalist, one of the founders of zoogeography. The book describes his travel through Malaysia in 1854-1862, he brought over 125 000 products of nature back in London. A. R. Wallace defined the theory of evolution independently of Charles Darwin. Wallace's letter forced Darwin to publish his basic work On the Origin of Species.
