Reisebilder is four-volume book, which was published in 1826 - 1831. We offer first edition of the third volume, in which Heine describes his tour of Italy (1st chapter: Journey from Munich to Genoa, 2nd chapter: Spa Lukka). Unoriginal half calf binding with gilded decorated spine. The binding and some pages are a little dirty, there are a library number and a signature (without context) by pencil on the title page and next page, generally in good state of preservation. 16.5 x 11 cm, 410 pp.
Heinrich Heine (1797 - 1856), born Chaim Harry Heine, he was one of the most significant German romantic poets. He is remembered especially for selections of his lyric poetry. He was of Jewish origin, but in 1825, he decided to convert from Judaism to Protestantism because of the severe restrictions on Jews in many of the German states. He died of general paralysis in Paris.
