Translations of individual poems are supplemented by extensive comments and explanations by the translator. 54 photolithographic glued plates according to paintings by the French painter Girodet. Title page printed with engraved border signed in the plate by engraver A. F. Lemaitre (Augustin Francois Lemaitre) and draughtsman H. Catenacci (Hercules Louis Catenacci). Each page is framed in red, individual parts of the text ending with nice vignettes. Original (?) all-calf binding with signs of usage, the spine with stains and narrow fissure along the entire length, blank leaves, half-title, title and some leaves are slightly dirty, generally in good state of preservation. 14 x 9 cm, 47 pages of translator’s introductory notes, 158 pages of text.
